John Lawrence McCarthy passed away March 25, 2015 surround by loving family at his home in New Orleans, LA. He was a true gentleman, devoted husband, loving father and a true friend to many. John was born January 27, 1920 at his family home on fourth street. Son of Lawrence and Clara Geyer McCarthy. He is survived by his children, Michael Sydney, Peggy Willis McCarthy, John David and Melanie Rankin McCarthy, Terrence Robert and Susanna Atkins McCarthy and Brian Leigh McCarthy. John Lawrence McCarthy passed away March 25, 2015 surround by loving family at his home in New Orleans, LA. He was a true gentleman, devoted husband, loving father and a true friend to many. John was born January 27, 1920 at his family home on fourth street. Son of Lawrence and Clara Geyer McCarthy. He is survived by his children, Michael Sydney, Peggy Willis McCarthy, John David and Melanie Rankin McCarthy, Terrence Robert and Susanna Atkins McCarthy and Brian Leigh McCarthy. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren; Christopher McCarthy, Katie Ruth McCarthy, Sean McCarthy, Allison McCarthy, Grant McCarthy, Cole McCarthy, Christian McCarthy, William McCarthy and one Great Grandson, Collin McCarthy. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Ruth Boulet McCarthy, grandson Merritt McCarthy, Lawrence McCarthy, Clara Geyer McCarthy, Justin McCarthy, Dorothy McCarthy, and Regina Alice McCarthy. John attended Tulane University and is a WWII veteran. For 27 years he served as the Executive Director of the American Cancer Society for the state of Louisiana. He served as President of Zion Lutheran Church for 16 years. The family wishes to thank Dr. Anthony Lama for all the years of excellent care as well as the entire staff at Davita Dialysis on Jena Street. Funeral services shall be held at Zion Lutheran Church located at 1924 St Charles Avenue New Orleans, LA 70130 on Monday morning, March 30, 2015 at 10:00.
