Frances Loiacano Plaia entered into eternal rest on November 25, 2016 at the age of 98. She was welcomed into heaven by her loving husband, Joachim Andrew Plaia, Sr. Frances was the daughter of the late Leo Luca Loiacano and Rosalia Efluso Loiacano. She was preceded in death by her sisters Bessie Loiacano Giroir and Amelia Loiacano Laurent. Frances was also preceded in death by her brothers, Joseph, Lucas, Anthony, and Henry Loiacano, and 2 grandsons, Rosairo Joseph Plaia Jr., and Jeremy Ryan Christoffer-Geraci. Frances Loiacano Plaia entered into eternal rest on November 25, 2016 at the age of 98. She was welcomed into heaven by her loving husband, Joachim Andrew Plaia, Sr. Frances was the daughter of the late Leo Luca Loiacano and Rosalia Efluso Loiacano. She was preceded in death by her sisters Bessie Loiacano Giroir and Amelia Loiacano Laurent. Frances was also preceded in death by her brothers, Joseph, Lucas, Anthony, and Henry Loiacano, and 2 grandsons, Rosairo Joseph Plaia Jr., and Jeremy Ryan Christoffer-Geraci. Frances was survived by 5 children. Rosario Joseph Plaia, Sr. (Jo Ann), Leo Luca Plaia (Darlene), Joachim Andrew Plaia, Jr. (Linda), Mary Plaia Comstock, and Carol Plaia Geraci (Bob). She is also survived by 14 Grandchildren. Anna Plaia Parrow, John Plaia, Paula Plaia McLaughlin, Carla Plaia Jackson, Gayla Plaia Konanz, Leo Plaia, Jr. Gregory Plaia, Darren Plaia, Leslee Plaia Barbar, Patrick Comstock, Michael Comstock, Melissa Comstock Krass, Rebecca Comstock, and Richard Christoffer-Geraci. Frances leaves to celebrate her life, 27 great grandchildren, and 13 great-great grandchildren. Frances raised her 5 children as a young widow, making sure they were all well educated. She was a victim of Hurricane Katrina losing her home and recovering at the age of 89. Frances was a member of the Zodiacs of New Orleans Bowling Team. In 2015, at the age of 97 she celebrated 50 years of bowling nationals with the team and also traveled the world. Frances was also a member of COAST and New Image Club of Mandeville. Frances was also retired from The New Orleans Sewerage and Water Board. Frances held an annual St. Joseph's Altar, open to the public, and feeding many for her entire life. She taught us faith, tolerance, kindness, and above all love. She loved her family more than words can describe. Frances will be missed by so many, and lead a full life here on God's earth. Now heaven has a new angel who will guide us for forever. Friends and family are invited to attend a celebratory mass on Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at 12 noon in the chapel of Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Blvd, Metairie, LA.
