Esperanza Villalobos Barria, age 100, was called home by our Heavenly Father Monday morning May 15, 2017, at her home in New Orleans. She was the beloved mother of Juan "Tony" A. Filos Jr and Marcos E. Filos. She is also survived by her daughter-in-law, many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

Esperanza was born September 30, 1916, in Chepo, Panama, and came to New Orleans, LA, to start a new and better life with her children 58 years ago. Esperanza retired from Wembley Tie Company, New Orleans, LA, where she worked as a seamstress. She loved children, and after retirement worked as a part time daycare assistant and spent several years as a stay-at-home "mom" to her granddaughter Kiki. She was a devout Catholic, sang in the choir, and enjoyed spending time with her Hispanic fellowship group where she made life long friends. "Espe" was most known for her amazing cooking (especially her famous Arroz con Pollo). She may have been stubborn and steadfast in her ways, but she had a huge heart and loved her family and friends like no other. Esperanza touched many lives and will be immensely missed by all who knew her.

Memorial services will be held at SAINT THERESA OF AVILA CATHOLIC CHURCH, 1404 Erato St, New Orleans, LA on Saturday, June 3, 2017, at 1:30PM. Condolences may be offered at www.leitzeaganfuneralhome.com.
